Spring has come and gone...bring on Summer!

Hello again! It's been a couple of months since I posted, but I wanted to post now because I don't want to get TOO far behind. Plus, Alex is gone this I have the time! Well, we've had some awesome couple of months! Our life seems to always be full of either work, school and church callings or all of the above! BUT we've had some relax time, so it's been nice! Let's just go through both of us!

Alex - he finished his second semester of school on April 30th and had about a 2 1/2 week break....then started back up for summer semester this past week! Yay for year round school!! At least he'll be done faster right? Anyways, he's really enjoying school. Even though it just started, he thinks that he will really enjoy this next semester because it's now actually into how to treat their patients instead of all the background stuff....obviously that stuff is important and they have to know it, but he is excited to kind of get a glimpse of what being a physical therapist will be like! But he is officially done with his last long semester of classes that he'll have! After this shorter summer semester he'll have 8 weeks class, 8 weeks clinical's and that's pretty much what it will be like the rest of the time! So yay! Besides that, he is really busy in his church calling as well. For about a month or so had two callings and was the ward mission leader and in the elders quorum presidency, so that was busy! ..... but fun! (We definitely aren't in Utah anymore. ;) )  But we love our ward and all the friends we have made!

Me - well I've had some changes in my life as well. I was working at a financial company basically since we moved here and let's just was a tough! Really tough. But I'm not going to go into all of that. It was a big, personal, extremely hard decision, but Alex & I decided that I needed to leave the job because it was not good for either of us. I have some things lined up - just not for sure in place yet, so I don't want to for sure say anything since I'm still working on that, but I have confidence that something is going to work out soon and I'll be back in business!! :) (I'll keep ya posted. ;) ) Besides that I teach the 4 & 5 year old in primary, so that has been really fun as well!!

Us - well since I was not working and Alex had a couple weeks off a school we decided what better time to go on a trip! We want to do so much while we live out here, because A - when else would we live here again? and B - there is SO much to do on the east coast! One huge thing on our "east coast bucket list" was to go to we decided to make that dream a reality!! It was A BLAST! We were able to go with one of Alex's classmates and his wife (and our good friends!) so that made the trip even better!! We actually decided to drive down because it was a lot cheaper to do it that way, so that was fun! It was fun to be able to drive along the east coast! The states are so small here! It would seem like we would just drive a couple of hours and be through another state! Ha!! But we made it through Virginia, North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia and then Florida! We were able to see Magic Kingdom, Animal Kingdom, Hollywood Studios and Epcot! It was so fun to go and we went at the perfect time! I think the longest we stood in line all 3 days was MAYBE 35 minutes. It was AWESOME!!!! We had SUCH a blast and I'm so glad we were able to go! And cross it off our bucket list!! ;) The only downside was that we had to leave our kitty! We had a couple in our ward "kitty sit" for us, so thank goodness for them! But I was so pathetic about it...I don't know if I'll be able to leave her that long again! I should be just copyright #crazycatlady. Seriously. BUT here are some highlights of the trip. :)

After we got back from Disneyworld we just hung out here and got stuff ready for my sister!! One day we were able to go up the DC Temple and do a session! It was so fun and so nice to be in a temple. I can't even begin to tell you how much I miss living close to temples! I never realized how blessed we were to not only live close to just one, but many!! I remember the days when we would both get home from work or school, have no plans for the night and decided to just run over the temple for a quick session. Now it literally is an entire day's trip that you really need to plan for in advance, it's crazy! But I am glad that we have a temple close-ish. ;) And we took some time to walk around the grounds afterwards - so pretty!!

We decided that if we are going to drive all the way to DC for the temple then we should try to do at least one thing there each time we go - because there is A LOT to see in DC! So this last time we decided to go the Arlington Cemetery! It was such an amazing and humbling experience to be able to go there. I am so grateful we were able to go there so close to Memorial Day weekend and kind of get a glimpse of all the people that have sacrificed their lives for our country. It really made me feel like with all the bad stuff happening in the world and especially in our country, that is really what it is about and those men and women who fought for everything we have today. America!

Anyways, then....Whitney came to visit us with her little Brooklyn! YAY!!!! It was so, so, SO good to have them!! They were our first family that has come to visit, so that made it even more fun! It was really the first time we got to play host / hostess, so that was fun to be able to have a house guest! She came in on Thursday night and left Tuesday early afternoon. We were able to go see Jamestown (obviously the first town settled by the English colonists) and then go out to a Southern BBQ restaurant! Sooooo good! Then we went to Virginia Beach, which was gorgeous (and cold!) but fun! Whitney even came to my 4-5 year old's class with me on Sunday! The kids LOVED baby Brooklyn. But how could they not? She's the cutest. We went on walks around here and she was able to see the beauty of VA! And of course, we went to the Waffle House for breakfast because you can't be in the south and not eat at the Waffle House! It was so fun to be able to play games every night and just spent time with my sister. I can't even tell you how many times we were asked if we are twins!! Ha. But Whitney is gorgeous, so I don't mind being compared to her. ;) Anyways, I'm so glad that they were able to come!! We had such a fabulous time and I just love my sister. We talked about how we have always been close, but as we've gotten older and lived further apart, we have become even closer. I sure love that sister of mine and I'm so glad that she and little Brookie were able to come spend time with us!! It sure meant a lot!! (Now just to get the rest of the family out.... ;) ) (Here's some highlights of her visit!!)

Sunday stroll around Sandy Bottom Nature Park. (This is where I go on my runs...obviously, who would want to run here!)

Got to catch the sunset! Which we never do out here because of all the trees! Ha. So gorgeous!

Well, besides that not much is going on here. Alex is in Arizona this weekend because his best friend, Brandon, is getting married! I wish that I could be there with him, but I'm so glad he will be able to be there for Brandon and Haley on their special day! So thrilled for them!!

Yes, these were their senior pictures. Crazies.

Anyways, I'm sure things will go back to being kind of low key, but the past month or so has been fabulous! Definitely a much needed little break. I'm sure we will be going to the beach or pool a LOT this summer. I decided that I definitely have no reason that I shouldn't be super tan this that's the goal! Let's see how it goes. ;) Especially because I feel like I can't be outside for more than 5 minutes without feeling like I'm going to die! Curse you humidity!! Hopefully we survive the summer! Bring it on!! Happy Summer. :D
